Anchor Box is your best bet (you can search for locations on yahoo yellow pages -- I think they have several roughly in your part of town). They have a huge selection, and I've found them to be a little cheaper than the moving stores like U-Haul (I used to move WAY too often in Houston, and each move involved about 30-40 boxes of books. ugh).

Go to Half Price Books and see if they have any free boxes for you. When I worked there we gave them to people all the time. Also, if you go to a grocery store you can ask when they dump their boxes - it's usually early in the morning after deliveries - but the boxes will be free, too. :)

Alex: Eh, good timing. I selectively hit my blogroll along with early a.m. coffee. But not THAT early (I wasn't even awake at 5:55 am!). I think your server time offset needs to be adjusted. That is, if you wanna be on Texas time like the cool kids. :)

Andromina: Moving a library is a pain with free boxes, because they are always different sizes and never stack properly. Spending 25 bucks at Anchor Box makes moving so much nicer. :) And no, I don't own stock in the company or anything. They're just really good.

I'm going to be leaving shortly to get the boxes. I've done about everything I can without them (Except my one-man Hurricane Party, which I might forego). If I'd known that there'd be something so near by, I wouldn't have been so panicky and would have taken out one (or both!) of the ASAPs.

As for the dimensions of the boxes, I don't have a library to concern myself with. I got a lot of books, but most of them are going in the dumpster. They were textbooks, and a lot of friggin' good they did my desperately-unemployed self!

I'm disinclined to try to get free boxes. I figured that I could get them at Walmart last night and when I asked where I could buy boxes, they gave me some (it was 2 in the morning, they were unloading), which I thought was great until the cashier accused me of theft.

I left them there without incident.

Alex... You missed the deadline... Last weekend, my fiance and I hauled a *ton* (1 long-bed of a pickup truck full) of broken down cardboard boxes to the dumpster that had been sitting in my garage for over a year.

Actually, the boxes from Half Price Books are well, FOR books. :) And they are all the exact same size - which makes them great for stacking. When Mike and I got our house we had to combine BOTH our libraries - we have 10 full size book cases in our house - and even more books in storage!! :)
