Thrifthaven Potpourri
R. Alex Whitlock
- I got a search in my SiteMeter for "Thrifthaven." At first I was kind of surprised at the coincidence, but then I thought about it and it made sense that the prefix "Thrift" and suffix "haven" were bound to meet somewhere at some point. I was kinda surprised that they happened to meet at a Baptist school in Tennessee.
- I sat down on my recumbent bike yesterday and in my 20 minute ride was interrupted no less than four times by people asking to borrow money. First was Snowflake, whom I loaned ten dollars. Second was Strang, whom I reminded already owed me $5. Third was Snowflake, who said she actually needed $10 rather than $5. Last was Saul the Mumbler, who ended up borrowing the $10 I wouldn't loan Snowflake.
- I was just thinking on my drive up here: I should have made some T-shirts. Something like "I spent a night at Thrifthaven and all that wasn't stolen was this lousy t-shirt" or something. I guess I still could, but since I'm not posting as much on the apartment, it wouldn't have as much appeal. Not that I would really expect people to spend $15 on a shirt about a pseudonymed apartment complex in Pocatello, Idaho, that no one has ever heard of.
- May do it anyway just so that I can have one. Gawd bless Cafe Press!
- For the first two months or so since he got out of jail, Strang had been wearing the same clothes day after day after day. It was a yellow t-shirt with pants so low that you could see his crack and ripped so high that you could see the bottom of his bottom on one leg. It was getting so bad I was thinking about buying him some new clothes myself. The good news is that he's apparently bought himself some clothes. The bad news is that he's getting a lot of visitors at odd hours.
