Accounts Payable, Accounts Openable
R. Alex Whitlock
the fellow that lived here before me gets a lot of mail. Most of them from money institutions.

What's disturbing is that 60% of them are from collection agencies. Since collection agencies don't generally send care letters, I would imagine it's because he has borrowed money in the past and has not yet paid back the money that he owes.

The remaining 40% are from credit card companies and are quite obviously attempts to get this fellow to borrow money from them.

Yeah... the fella that used to have my phone number had the same problem.

Since I like to jack around with sales people, sometimes I'll even pretend to be the wrong person if they ask for Joe Smith instead of Chris Elam.

I did that one time to a jovial-sounding fella. His tone got immediately nasty, and he informed me that he was really from a collection agency. I had a heckuva time convincing him that I wasn't his target. I don't think I really did convince him of that, because they kept calling back for a while.

Lesson learned.

Comment spam is an ongoing problems that we're trying to address. Previously we required people to create accounts and log in. I am thankful to say that is no longer the case. We're giving Captcha another try and are playing around with a text-based Q&A variant of Captcha. So bear with us as we try to figure out how to best get a handle ont he problem. Please note that any comment on a post more than 30 days old will go into the moderation queue, where I will get to it when I can which could be once a week.
