Quote of the Day: Arafat & Bush
R. Alex Whitlock
"It should be said that the person who spits at the mention of George W. Bush, but weeps for Arafat, is beyond twitting. Such a person is sick in the head. He represents a form of judgement so totally inverted as to be indistinguishable from madness. And yet among our intellectuals, this inversion is commonplace." -

Observations

I don't know who David Warren is, but among MY intellectuals, plenty of whom spit at the mention of Bush, no one is weeping for Arafat. Indeed, they're rejoicing at the eternal roasting of his soul that has only just begun.
But I run with sort of a weird crowd of intellectuals. Yours might vary.

Well Mr. Warren is a Canadian, which explains part of it :). The view is more prevalent among "intellectuals" and especially media-types in Canada and Europe, as opposed to North Carolina (and Texas and Idaho).
