Cause I Know You Care...
R. Alex Whitlock
Obviously, posting has been somewhat sparce. Believe it or not it's not for lack of things to post about, or necessarily even time (though that's certainly a factor). I'm sharing my computer at work and the Internet has mostly been down for the past week.

Whether I miss (a) Internet, (b) heating, or (c) a working shower most is a close call, but the lack of all three have me spending very little time at the apartment - and Eel's computer has a version of IE that detests Nucleus. So I have access to the Internet for less than an hour a day or so, which is not conducive to posting.

Anyway, posting will hopefully pick up soon. I'm working on a way of getting more (and better) access to the Internet. With any luck, I'll have a pretty big political post up before election day and I have a host of other things I'll try to eek out if I can.

Use Eel's IE to download Mozilla/Firefox/Opera and have her stop using IE as well. People need to be more aware that our own government issued a security warning urging people to stop using IE.

I'm having trouble locating the article(s) about that, but if you want one, I'm sure I can turn one up quickly.

Eel's computer is a lost cause. In all my years of computer usage academically, personally, and professionally, I have never seen a functional computer in such bad shape.

I'm reluctant to install as much as another browser on that thing. Security holes are the least of concerns at the moment. It needs a format and restore, which I can't do until I have another computer working over there and I have a free copy of Windows 98 and Office 97 (I doubt it can support 2000 at this point, Windows or MSOffice).

Comment spam is an ongoing problems that we're trying to address. Previously we required people to create accounts and log in. I am thankful to say that is no longer the case. We're giving Captcha another try and are playing around with a text-based Q&A variant of Captcha. So bear with us as we try to figure out how to best get a handle ont he problem. Please note that any comment on a post more than 30 days old will go into the moderation queue, where I will get to it when I can which could be once a week.
