Observations

He should be. He's terrific. Still won't come close to beating Miami, though.

It will get even more interesting if Art's son beats him out. :)
I know it's a lot to hope, but things do seem to be looking up at UH.
Except for baseball this year. Ugh. But the youth development this year should serve Rayner well in the next few years.

Daniel,
Yeah, I'm really not wasting a whole lot of hope points on being able to beat Miami. What I will be looking for in that game is whether or not Kolb himself can make a dent in the Miami defense or whether it will turn out like the Michigan game last year.

Kevin,
I've been hearing a lot about Kendell Briles, but don't really know all that much about him. A lot of Coogfans seem to think he may get the top spot, but a lot of others think he'll end up playing somewhere else. When we went to the Rice game, Dad was excited about our current backup QB (Beasley? something like that) because of what he read about him during recruiting season. That Kolb (who he probably didn't read as much about since he was a late pick-off from OSU) beat out a highly sought QB was impressive. If Art Briles can beat out Kolb, we'll be in even better shape. Talk about excitement!
The big thing I'm worried about on the offensive side of the ball is the loss of Hadnot. I don't generally notice good centers (bad ones being easy to spot), but he was really good and his diagonal hiking ability served our style of offense really well.
